9.24.16 “What’s your Hobby?” video production continued last Thursday at KDOL TV. Students are really getting the hang of different roles such videographer, interviewer and being the talent!
9.15.16 MEA first year students enthusiastically began production on their first boot camp video project interviewing their peers about their favorite hobbies. Student hobbies range from skateboarding to rapping to babysitting, what a fantastic group!
9.6.16 The first day of 2016/17 MEA at KDOL video production classes have commenced! The instructors, teacher’s assistants, and second-year interns helped welcome a record influx of bright, excited new students! We spent the day touring our amazing facilities, playing name games and talking about the upcoming program. We look forward to working with this talented new group of future filmmakers and video journalists.
9.1.16 The advanced students/interns did a fantastic job helping to recruit new intro students for the 16/17 video production course.
Hillary Clinton stopped in Oakland on the campaign trail and came to our very own La Escuelita education complex for a rally! Our students had a chance to cover the event and watch her face the nation interview live from the sat truck.
5.6.16 The New Parkway screening was a perfectly curated show, thanks Jake Schoneker! The audience was amazed at the content and quality of our MEA at KDOL students work this year.
4.23.16 MEA KDOL classes attended the annual field trip to the Niles Essanay Silent Film Museum in Fremont, CA last Saturday. We all loved the classic comedy shorts and informative tour from the amazing Silent Film Museum docents.

Our Spring 2016, Haas Business School instructors, Josephine and Christina, helped welcome first year MEA students back from Spring break. Each Spring the Haas program works with our students to teach them fundamental business and job readiness skills. Students will be learning to write their professional resumes, create their own LinkedIn page, gain job interview skills and make their own professional website.
An eventful spring break continued as MEA reporter Sonia Aronson traveled to an ecology research station near Antioch to shoot for her PBS Newshour Student Reporting Labs documentary on wetland preservation!
It’s been a busy spring break here at MEA! To start the week off we had a few lucky students who were able to go on a field trip to Industrial Light and Magic / Lucas film for a tour!

12.17.15 MEA’s Got Talent! After all the MEA students accomplishments the past semester, we decided to just plain have a great time to ring in the New Year. The final class was full of games, karaoke, and a talent show! We got to hear amazing acoustic guitar solos from Ozzy all the way to a rockin’ ballad from Nicholas Gantt.
12.15.15 ONews premier and Bootcamp graduation with friends and family! The first-year students were awarded their press passes and tee shirts at the MEA at KDOL Bootcamp graduation on December 15th, 2015. We were pleased that many of their adoring families were able to come and support their successes and watch their amazing Local Organization Profile videos and the newest ONews premier.
12.10.1512.10.15 ONews Live! ONews has wrapped up production for their Winter ONews broadcast with the help of some first-year students on the crew.
12.3.15 Fall semester is wrapping up splendidly. The first year MEA students are hard at work completing their 2 minute local organization, profile videos before winter break. Meanwhile, the advanced group gears up for another episode of ONews.
11.8.15 The Fruitvale, Dia De Los Muertos Festival shoot was an exciting and richly beautiful event. The students documented everything from the elaborate altars to the talented Aztec dancers and musicians.
